I want a ceiling fan(s), where do I start?
Things to know include amount of ceiling fans to install and what type of install is needed, such as:
- Replacement : Involves removing an existing ceiling fan and installing the new ceiling fan
- Replacement + New Support : Involves removing an existing ceiling fan/light fixture and adding proper support
- New Installation : Involves cutting in a new ceiling fan rated box and wiring for power or a control switch
- Installation Only : There is already a fan rated box and power or a control switch, just need the fan installed
Most installations are pretty straightforward but sometimes there are surprises. We see ceiling fans that were installed without a proper ceiling fan rated box and we see light fixtures that are installed on boxes that are rated for ceiling fans. Our ceiling fan installations are designed to help make things as easy as possible.
What else do I need to know?
- How high is my ceiling? 8′-10′ is pretty standard but you may have a tall or vaulted ceiling.
- Flush-mount fan or a long down rod? Use flush-mount fan for low, flat ceilings or a longer down rod on tall ceilings
- Pull Chains, Remote Control or Wall Switch? This will determine the wiring, you can use a combination of these
